This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Daniel Dimitrov! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Dimitrov has closed the distance and engaged McGuire in a clinch.
McGuire jumps into guard, dragging Dimitrov to the mat.
Dimitrov got a little sloppy there for a moment and McGuire has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dimitrov has managed to get both his arms back between McGuire's legs - danger averted. Dimitrov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Dimitrov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Dimitrov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. McGuire trying to keep a closed guard but Dimitrov is proving a slippery customer.
McGuire might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dimitrov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

McGuire drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dimitrov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now McGuire has Dimitrov in his guard. Dimitrov controls the pace of the fight for a moment. McGuire had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dimitrov defends it easily. McGuire being controlled here, momentarily.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Dimitrov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGuire swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dimitrov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. McGuire looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's twelve minutes gone in the round. McGuire sneaks back into half guard. McGuire looking for submissions from an awkward position here. McGuire is looking to control Dimitrov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McGuire avoid being mounted? McGuire is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dimitrov pulls his head out easily.

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Dimitrov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McGuire does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Dimitrov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. And that's the end of the fight! Dimitrov wins on points by 17 to 2. A very excited looking Daniel Dimitrov rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed. |
