Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dick Pawlik (ranked 284 p4p, 234 weight class) and Ernie Tertelgte (ranked 36 p4p, 26 weight class). Pawlik comes to the cage accompanied by John Butler - Ocean . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Dick Pawlik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ernie Tertelgte!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tertelgte closes the distance and pushes Pawlik back into the cage.
Tertelgte swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Tertelgte pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pawlik bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The crowd cheers as Pawlik lands an impressive looking overhand right. Tertelgte doesn't seem phased though.

Pawlik bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Tertelgte is trying to control Pawlik's posture but Pawlik avoids it.
Pawlik working the ground and pound but Tertelgte is defending the strikes.
Pawlik looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Tertelgte is avoiding damage well.
Pawlik in side control, throwing shots but Tertelgte defends.

Pawlik has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Tertelgte is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pawlik.

The fighters circle momentarily. Pawlik darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Tertelgte throws a leg kick which misses Pawlik's front leg but catches the back leg as Pawlik tries to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tertelgte throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Pawlik tries to counter with a takedown but Tertelgte is quick to defend against it.

Pawlik takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Ernie Tertelgte is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pawlik ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Tertelgte lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Pawlik displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tertelgte throws out the jab.
Pawlik slips under a jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tertelgte. Pawlik does a little dance to reset his feet.

Tertelgte does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Pawlik appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Tertelgte swings for the body but Pawlik moves out of range.

The fighters circle momentarily. Tertelgte darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Tertelgte fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
We've been informed that Tertelgte has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Pawlik throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tertelgte swings for the body but Pawlik moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tertelgte looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ernie Tertelgte showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pawlik accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Pawlik keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tertelgte's head.
Pawlik looking to sit in guard and control but Tertelgte gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Pawlik is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tertelgte is aware though and is defending well.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pawlik throws his legs up looking for a submission but Tertelgte uses it to pass to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
