PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Crixus The Gaul (ranked 931 p4p, 1298 weight class) and Jolly Roger (ranked 139 p4p, 200 weight class). Roger is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Under Jolly Roger. On his way into the cage it seems that Crixus The Gaul has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Crixus The Gaul seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jolly Roger!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The Gaul moves into the clinch.
The Gaul throws a punch but it's blocked by Roger.
The Gaul lands a right hand.
The Gaul misses with a hook from the clinch.
The Gaul lands a hook to the side of the head.
Roger is looking for a takedown.
The Gaul misses with a short punch on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for The Gaul.
Roger blocks a punch to the side of the head.
The Gaul pushes Roger back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Roger has hold of one of The Gaul's legs. The Gaul is fighting the takedown attempt but Roger gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Roger lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The Gaul thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Roger chips away with some ground and pound.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Roger works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Roger is keen to just control but The Gaul is a slippery customer.
The Gaul is looking for a sweep. Roger is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Roger wants to work for an arm triangle but The Gaul is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Roger is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Roger is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so The Gaul is just riding it out for now. Roger eventually gives up the hold.
Roger wants to lay and pray for a moment but The Gaul keeps working.
The Gaul is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Roger seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Roger wants to pass the guard but The Gaul is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The Gaul is staying active underneath Roger, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The Gaul's coaches at Hardman MMA have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Roger lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Roger cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
