Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Hijikata has a takedown stuffed. Hijikata definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Hijikata shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hijikata (2) vs (0) Cadman Hijikata being controlled here momentarily. Cadman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cadman has control of Hijikata's left arm, preventing Hijikata from doing any damage. Hijikata trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Hijikata looking to pass the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hijikata controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Cadman keeping full guard, as Hijikata tries to pass.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Hijikata seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Hijikata stopping the sweep attempt from Cadman . Hijikata stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cadman swivels though and keeps the full guard. Cadman pulls Hijikata in close to prevent any damage. Our spies down at at AREA 51 inform us that Cadman has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
That's six minutes gone in the round. Hijikata is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Cadman is pulling down on Hijikata's head. It's preventing any offense from Hijikata, at least for the moment. Hijikata is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cadman holds on and takes a little breather.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Cadman passes Hijikata's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Cadman is taking a breather. Hijikata says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. It looks like Cadman might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Hijikata is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cadman 's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cadman 's back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Hijikata (6) vs (2) Cadman Cadman tries to roll but Hijikata sticks to his back.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Cadman trying to control the position but Hijikata manages to sink in the hooks. A bit of a pause in the action here. Hijikata controlling the positon. You can see the frustration on Cadman 's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Hijikata controls the action. Hijikata is not going to allow Cadman to sit and survive in this position.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Hijikata controlling the position well here. Cadman rolled but Hijikata kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cadman trying to control the hands but Hijikata won't let him.
