Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Christ Karter (ranked 1676 p4p, 1946 weight class) and Bert River (ranked 171 p4p, 198 weight class). River has chosen Five Finger Death Punch- Bad Company as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jesus Christ Karter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bert River!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Ron Honeybunn and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
River shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Karter throws a body shot but no joy.
Karter throws the left hand but River avoids the punch easily.
River was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Karter rushes River and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Karter has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

River jumps guard.

River had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Karter defends it easily.
Karter trying to control the position from guard on top but River is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Karter is really struggling to control River but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Karter looking to sit in guard and control but River gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's one minute gone in the round.
River trying to control the position from guard on top but Karter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
River working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Karter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. River gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Karter is trying to control the position from the bottom.

River drops back looking for a leg! Karter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Karter manages to kick River off! River jumps back into Karter's guard.
River is looking to advance position but Karter has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!


That's two minutes gone in the round.
Karter throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Karter wants to control but instead River manages to regain half guard.
Karter winds up and cracks River with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Karter frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
River is looking to improve his position but Karter isn't that keen on the idea.
Karter working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Karter in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
River is squirming around, avoiding Karter's attempts to control the action.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
River is working to get back to half guard.

Karter moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, River has worked his arm free - good work by River!
Karter postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
River regains half guard.

River is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Karter pulls his head out easily.
Karter scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
River manages to get to full guard.

River had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Karter defends it easily.
Karter wants to control from the top but River keeps moving.
Karter works over River with some ground and pound from guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
River trying to keep a closed guard but Karter is proving a slippery customer.
Karter lands a couple of elbows.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jesus Christ Karter dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A momentary lapse in concentration from Karter enables River to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Karter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Karter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Karter wants to hit a sweep here but River passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Karter there!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
River lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Karter tries to hold on but River pushes him away.
River is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Karter can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Karter tries to improve his position but River has taken his back! River has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Karter tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! River pushes Karter away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bert River!
