Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kira Yoshikage (ranked 1596 p4p, 1643 weight class) and Trevor Barnes (ranked 210 p4p, 220 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kira Yoshikage! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trevor Barnes! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Topper Green and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yoshikage is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barnes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Yoshikage fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Barnes goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Yoshikage is looking to counter the offense by Barnes and move into the clinch. Yoshikage shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Yoshikage was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Barnes explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Barnes attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Barnes connects with a high kick. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barnes can do anything to dispel that myth. Barnes is not content to let Yoshikage control the position. Yoshikage passes to side control. Barnes is looking to reverse the position. Barnes can't do much from the bottom here. Yoshikage remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Barnes is not content to let Yoshikage control the position. We've been hearing that Yoshikage has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Yoshikage is really struggling to control Barnes but he's trying to hold on to the position. Barnes can't do much from the bottom here. Yoshikage is pushing Barnes up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Yoshikage is trying to drag Barnes to the mat but Barnes just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Yoshikage tries to pull guard but Barnes won't allow it.
