Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bardia Farrokhzad (ranked 745 p4p, 497 weight class) and Dragon Li Chai (ranked 44 p4p, 26 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Farrokhzad might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Iranian Baloch - This Is A Catch. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Farrokhzad misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Chai.
Farrokhzad throws a big shot that misses.
Farrokhzad throws an overhand right that lands on Chai's shoulder, as Chai tries to avoid the shot.
Chai tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Farrokhzad tries to clinch but Chai is having none of it.
Chai is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Farrokhzad throws the left hand but Chai avoids the punch easily.
Chai shoots in for a takedown but Farrokhzad shows good takedown defense.

Chai shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Farrokhzad is trying to defend but Chai finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Chai tries to pass to full mount but Farrokhzad defends it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chai in particular looking to stall.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chai takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Chai is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Farrokhzad is trying to control but can't.
Farrokhzad wants to improve his position but Chai is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chai is looking to take a break and control but Farrokhzad is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

and Chai counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Chai pushes down on Farrokhzad's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Farrokhzad makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Farrokhzad.

Chai postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Farrokhzad is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Chai, into his guard.

Chai wants to sweep but no luck.
Farrokhzad distracts Chai with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Chai is trying to control the position but Farrokhzad postures up.
Farrokhzad lands a couple of digs.

Chai has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Farrokhzad can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Chai is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Chai utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Chai tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Our spies down at at Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts inform us that Chai has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Farrokhzad postures up in Chai's guard and throws a big left but Chai blocks it.
Farrokhzad working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Chai's head.
Chai controls Farrokhzad momentarily but Farrokhzad frees himself.
We've been hearing that Farrokhzad has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Farrokhzad chips away with some ground and pound.

Chai is rocked!
Farrokhzad makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Chai is still in real trouble! Can Farrokhzad finish him?
Farrokhzad gets to his feet and stands over Chai, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Chai felt that one! Farrokhzad unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Chai from any more punishment!
