Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shen Po (ranked 379 p4p, 648 weight class) and Barry McCockiner (ranked 53 p4p, 97 weight class). Po's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Ei-tetsu Hayashi & 木下伸市. McCockiner has chosen Farewell to Cheyenn as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shen Po!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barry McCockiner!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Francis DeMontford and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Po is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McCockiner.
As Po backs off McCockiner throws a huge counter combo but Po manages to avoid it all.

Po feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

McCockiner lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

It looks like Barry McCockiner has been cut.

McCockiner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McCockiner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Po fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McCockiner avoids it really well and circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Po bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A little feinted left hand from Po on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Shen Po seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big right from McCockiner misses.

and McCockiner counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Po misses with a takedown attempt - McCockiner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

McCockiner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McCockiner wants it to stay on the feet.

Po closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Shen Po overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Po throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Po seems to be working for a kimura but McCockiner defends the submission attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McCockiner is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Po's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Po's back!

Po feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits McCockiners jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Well Po has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
