These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Groot's hands.
It looks like Im Groot has been cut.
Groot looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Groot is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Rua walks into a jab.
Groot takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Rua throws a jab when Groot was well out of range.
Groot half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Groot slips a straight right by Rua.
A combination from Groot does no damage.
Rua uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Groot.
Groot takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Rua connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Im Groot's cut is getting worse.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rua connects with a crisp jab.
Rua moves in close and cracks Groot with a massive right hand! Groot, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Rua!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Wanderlei Rua!
After winning the bout, Wanderlei Rua thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
