Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamil Hurst (ranked 1438 p4p, 2154 weight class) and Marvin Jackson (ranked 202 p4p, 289 weight class). Hurst comes to the cage accompanied by Keep Their Heads Ringin'. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamil Hurst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marvin Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hurst drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Jackson has his hands on Hurst's head, controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hurst trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom.
Hurst with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hurst controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hurst trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hurst lands a couple of elbows.

Hurst slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Jackson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hurst manages to get himself to full guard.


Hurst is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hurst has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hurst bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.

Hurst stays in close to Jackson's body and controls the position.
Hurst has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Jackson is pulling down on Hurst's head. It's preventing any offense from Hurst, at least for the moment.
Hurst's corner is telling him to maintain position.
We've been hearing good reports from Hurst's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Hurst is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jackson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jackson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hurst manages to avoid it.
Marvin Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hurst connects with the punch.
Hurst shoots in but no luck this time.
Hurst lands with a hook. Jackson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
A decent looking cross lands there for Jackson.
Hurst lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hurst scores with a jab to the jaw.
Jackson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hurst to score with a decent uppercut.

and Hurst counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hurst.
Jackson wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hurst shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hurst was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Jackson is trying to control Hurst's posture but Hurst avoids it.
Jackson sneaks back into half guard.
Hurst is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jackson can do to turn this around?

Jackson is trying to control Hurst's posture. Hurst takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for Jackson! Hurst is rotating here... this could be the end... Jackson is out! Hurst has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!
