The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sasaki uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

It looks like Donny Donowitz has been cut.
Donowitz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sasaki connects with a jab.
Sasaki tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Donowitz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Donowitz's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sasaki connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Donowitz scrambles back to his feet.

and Donowitz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sasaki lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
A punch combination from Donowitz misses.
Sasaki is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Donowitz.
We've been informed that Sasaki has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Donowitz moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Donowitz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Donowitz moves away from the strike by Sasaki .
Sasaki walks into a stiff left hand from Donowitz.

That has opened up Haise Sasaki 's cut even more.
Donowitz keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sasaki .
A telegraphed right hand from Sasaki misses the target.
Haise Sasaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sasaki tries to clinch but Donowitz moves away
and Donowitz counters with a good low kick that Sasaki was not able to check.

and Donowitz scores with a counter punch that sends Sasaki to the canvas! Donowitz smells blood - he's punishing Sasaki with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Sasaki has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
