Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Giuseppe Hopkins (ranked 7 p4p, 118 weight class) and Dubaku Womba (ranked 2 p4p, 20 weight class). Womba has chosen Damian Marley - Road to Zion ft. Nas as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 3 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Giuseppe Hopkins!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dubaku Womba!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Womba slips a straight right by Hopkins.
Womba throws a body punch but Hopkins moves out of range.

Womba shoots in and bounces Hopkins off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Womba tries to free his leg and advance position but Hopkins is retaining full guard.
Womba throws an elbow that misses. Hopkins uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Womba's guard. Nice move by Hopkins!

Hopkins wants to stand but Womba is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Womba working for a triangle but Hopkins defends it easily.

Womba working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Hopkins has passed into half guard!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Womba shoots in and drives through. Hopkins sprawls well.
Hopkins appears to be looking for a big counter.
Womba lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Hopkins will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Womba fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
The fighters circle momentarily. Womba darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Womba doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Hopkins to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Dubaku Womba has been cut.
Hopkins ducks right into an uppercut from Womba.
Hopkins takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Womba looks to land a left hand but Hopkins moved out of range nicely.
Hopkins quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Womba connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hopkins. Hopkins circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hopkins tries a head kick but it misses.
Womba on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Womba shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hopkins is trying to defend but Womba finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dubaku Womba will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Womba throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hopkins tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Womba is in Hopkins's guard.

Womba is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hopkins has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hopkins has his hands clasped together around Womba's back. He's all about the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Womba wants to advance to full mount but Hopkins doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Womba in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hopkins manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Womba pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Giuseppe Hopkins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hopkins keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Womba.
Womba closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hopkins circles away.
Womba misses with a left hand
and Hopkins counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Womba.
Hopkins walks into a left hand.
Womba fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hopkins looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Womba throws a lazy right hand but Hopkins sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hopkins is looking to counter with a body kick.

Womba throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hopkins is looking to counter punch.
Womba shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Hopkins counter with a right hand.

That has opened up Dubaku Womba's cut even more.
Giuseppe Hopkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dubaku Womba.

Giuseppe Hopkins spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
