Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Second Wife (ranked 3552 p4p, 3041 weight class) and Wanderlei Rua (ranked 417 p4p, 358 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

That has opened up Wanderlei Rua's cut even more.

It looked like Wife was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Wife drives through and clinches with Rua against the cage.

Rua's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rua throws a lazy right hand but Wife sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Rua has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.

I was talking to Wife's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Rua lands a big uppercut and Wife crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Wife looks OK. Rua waves Wife back to his feet!

Wife is rocked!

Jeez, Second Wife's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Second Wife's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

After winning the bout, Wanderlei Rua thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
