We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Switch has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Switch gets a takedown into half guard. We've been hearing good reports from Jackson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Switch throwing shots but Jackson is blocking nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackson wants to control from the top but Switch keeps moving. Switch is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jackson defends well. Switch looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Switch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Switch is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Jackson has his hands clasped together but Switch extends and breaks Jackson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Switch.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kill Switch! Kill Switch made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'Broken necks, splattered patellas, severed arteries: These are the things from which dreams are made of.'. Marvin Jackson was interviewed post fight and said 'This sport SUX!'.
