PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Heavy Rain (ranked 20 p4p, 78 weight class) and Mark Kerr (ranked 5 p4p, 15 weight class). Rain's entrance music is For Heavy Metal we will die!. A fine choice. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Heavy Rain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 24 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Kerr!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kerr on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Rain connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Kerr bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Rain tries to bum rush Kerr with a series of wild strikes but Kerr uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kerr has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Kerr fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rain has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Kerr postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Rain bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Kerr and the fight is over!

Mark Kerr decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
