PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barion Montgomery (ranked 2118 p4p, 1113 weight class) and Mike Camble (ranked 294 p4p, 164 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Camble!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Montgomery. No joy for Camble on that attempt.
A solid leg kick lands there for Montgomery.
Montgomery connects with a single shot there.
Camble fails with a takedown attempt.
Montgomery fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Nice uppercut there from Montgomery.
Montgomery lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Camble gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Montgomery counters with a nice body shot.
Barion Montgomery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Camble.
Camble takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Montgomery swings for the body but Camble moves out of range.
Montgomery looks to score with a jab to the body but Camble is just out of range.
Montgomery throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Camble drives through with a takedown into Montgomery's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Montgomery knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Camble on the ground.

Camble missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Camble not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Camble throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Montgomery works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Camble lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Montgomery is trying to control the position but Camble postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Camble pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Montgomery is keeping the position for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Camble loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Camble postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Camble controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Camble feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Camble looking to sit in guard and control but Montgomery gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Camble is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Camble manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Montgomery manages to get himself to full guard.

Camble working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Montgomery's head.

Camble seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Camble's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Montgomery on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Montgomery tries to get out of the position.
Camble content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Montgomery is pulling down on Camble's head. It's preventing any offense from Camble, at least for the moment.
Camble throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Camble accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Camble controlling from the top position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Montgomery controls Camble momentarily but Camble frees himself.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Barion Montgomery will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Camble closes the distance looking to clinch
and Montgomery counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Camble thinking.
Montgomery displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Camble.
Camble moves in looking to clinch but Montgomery pushes him off.
Montgomery is looking to wear down Camble with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Montgomery throws out a powerful jab.

Camble drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Camble trying to control the action but Montgomery is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Camble has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Montgomery is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Camble yanks on the arm and Montgomery is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Camble.

In his post fight interview, Mike Camble started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
