PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hyatt Wayne (ranked 990 p4p, 1625 weight class) and Phony Phontana (ranked 135 p4p, 216 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wayne might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to SOAD - Aerials. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hyatt Wayne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Phony Phontana!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phontana ducks under a wild hook from Wayne.
Wayne misses with a left hand
and Phontana counters with a nice body kick.
Nice defenses there by Phontana.
Phontana has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Wayne is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Phontana throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Phontana misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Phontana lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Phontana misses with a kick to the body.
Wayne feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Phontanas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Phontana throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Wayne has been working on his boxing with his coaches at McGrady FT in the buildup to the fight.
Phontana tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wayne manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Phontana is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wayne.

Wayne drops Phontana with a beautiful combination! Phontana stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Wayne is looking for the KO!

Phontana is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Phontana walks straight into a right hand from Wayne - that's dropped him! Wayne jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Phontana from any more punishment! Phontana complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Hyatt Wayne!
In his post fight interview, Hyatt Wayne started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
