Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brett Shoenfeld (ranked 511 p4p, 77 weight class) and Aiko San (ranked 51 p4p, 9 weight class). Brett Shoenfeld has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brett Shoenfeld!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Aiko San!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
San jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Shoenfeld appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Shoenfeld takes one to the chin there.
San misses with a left hand

and Shoenfeld counters with a takedown into side control.
Shoenfeld passes to full mount! That's big trouble for San!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if San can do anything to dispel that myth.
Shoenfeld controlling from mount.
San felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Shoenfeld wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
San has given up his back.

Shoenfeld is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. San is defending well though. Shoenfeld let's go of the attempt for now.

Shoenfeld has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, San has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

San is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Shoenfeld off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Shoenfeld is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. San defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
San just trying to survive but Shoenfeld is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

San is in a bad position with Shoenfeld working for a choke. San manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shoenfeld has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but San has passed into side control.
Shoenfeld is trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

so Shoenfeld counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Shoenfeld tries to free his leg and advance position but San is retaining full guard.
Shoenfeld passes San's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Brett Shoenfeld overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shoenfeld wants to work for an arm triangle but San is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Shoenfeld is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed San to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Shoenfeld might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Shoenfeld seems to be working for a kimura but San defends the submission attempt.
Shoenfeld has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Shoenfeld is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But San has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from San!
San won't allow Shoenfeld to sweep him here.

San trying to control the position from guard on top but Shoenfeld is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
San really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shoenfeld. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shoenfeld wants to sweep here but San controlling him for the moment.
Shoenfeld is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Shoenfeld manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. San manages to get himself to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Shoenfeld is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
San can't keep his opponent in guard - Shoenfeld advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Shoenfeld wants to pass to mount but San is defending the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Brett Shoenfeld dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

San jabbing away but nothing is landing.
San works Shoenfeld's body with a nice hook.
A jab lands there for San.
Brett Shoenfeld is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
San throws a hook to the side of Shoenfeld's head but Shoenfeld sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Shoenfeld tries to counter with a takedown but San is quick to defend against it.
San lands with a good body shot.
San throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shoenfeld appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

San cracks Shoenfeld with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. San has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Shoenfeld to stand back up!

Shoenfeld is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shoenfeld switches off momentarily and San cracks him with a monster right hand! Shoenfeld topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as San dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by San!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Aiko San!
