Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kvame Zulu (ranked 994 p4p, 848 weight class) and Norman Pearson (ranked 140 p4p, 119 weight class). Zulu comes into the arena with Big Badaboom blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kvame Zulu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Norman Pearson!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pearson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Zulu went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Pearson lands a leg kick that knocks Zulu off balance momentarily.
Zulu blocks a head kick by Pearson.
Pearson just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromZulu.

Zulu moves into the clinch.
Pearson manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Zulu being controlled against the cage.
The crowd are getting on Pearson's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zulu lands an uppercut.
Pearson dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zulu misses with a hook to the ribs.
Zulu lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Pearson backwards.
Pearson misses with an elbow strike.
Pearson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Zulu.
Zulu's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Zulu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pearson misses with an uppercut. Zulu saw that one coming.
Zulu seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Pearson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Zulu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Zulu misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Zulu takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

It looks like Kvame Zulu has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Zulu forces Pearson back against the cage and clinches.
Zulu looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Pearson taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Zulu blocks an elbow strike.
Come on Pearson - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pearson is pushing Zulu up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Pearson receives a warning from the referee for stalling.
The referee calls for Pearson to work.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pearson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Norman Pearson.

Zulu moves into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pearson lands a body shot.
Zulu is breathing heavily.
Pearson scores with a shoulder strike.
Pearson throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Zulus head.
Pearson working aggressively here.
Zulu has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Zulu has Pearson pressed against the cage, preventing Pearson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Pearson lands a hook to the side of the head.
A nice right hand lands inside from Pearson.

Pearson breaks from the clinch.

Pearson cracks Zulu with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Pearson has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Zulu to stand back up!

Zulu is rocked!
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pearson is stalking Zulu. Zulu circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Pearson, and it's lights out! Zulu really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Norman Pearson!
Norman Pearson seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
