Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ed Green (ranked 308 p4p, 535 weight class) and Shug Skinner (ranked 42 p4p, 77 weight class). Shug Skinner has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ed Green! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Shug Skinner! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Atkins and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Green misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Green shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Skinner as he avoids it easily. Green with a poor takedown and Skinner holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ed Green. That's going to take a lot out of him. Green drops down looking for an ankle pick but Skinner pulls his leg out and moves away.
Green changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Skinner tries to avoid it but Green manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Skinner to the ground. Skinner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Green fails with the takedown and Skinner counters by clinching up. Skinner gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Skinner makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Green is trying to drag Skinner to the mat but Skinner just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Skinner lands an elbow just above Green 's eye. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Skinner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Green shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Skinner sprawls well. Skinner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Green gets slowly back to his feet. Green closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
That's one minute gone in the round. Skinner connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Green's hands. Green tries for a takedown but Skinner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Green uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Skinner. Green darts in looking for a takedown but Skinner gets double underhooks and turns Green into the cage. Skinner lands a nice elbow. Skinner lands an elbow that stopped Green in his tracks for a moment. Green tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Skinner just stands there and leans against the cage. Green is trying to pull guard but Skinner turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Skinner comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Green drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Skinner gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Skinner will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Green up against the cage. Skinner lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Green has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Skinner clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Green is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Skinner is defending well though. Green let's go of the attempt for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Green's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Skinner trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Green trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Green sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Skinner taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ed Green!
