Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Manuel Silva (ranked 122 p4p, 1102 weight class) and Peter Smart (ranked 20 p4p, 153 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Manuel Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Smart!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva defending well as Smart loads up on a big left hand.
Silva rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Silva takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Smart's corner calls for a 1-2. Smart obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Silva has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Smart enables Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smart manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Silva throws a big right hand that misses.
Silva postures up in Smart's guard and throws a big left but Smart blocks it.

Silva is looking to take a break and control but Smart is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Smart is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That was a close round but I would say that Manuel Silva will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Smart shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Smart throws a strike but Silva rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Smart bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard.

Silva tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Smart's elbow.
Smart has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Silva avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Smart is pressed up against the cage. Silva has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Smart down to the mat. Smart avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Manuel Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Silva ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Smart lands a right hook to the body.
Good work by Silva as he checks the leg kick.
Silva swats away the attempt to clinch by Smart.
Manuel Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smart avoids the body shot from Silva.
It seemed like Smart was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Smart throws a body punch but Silva moves out of range.

Smart fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Peter Smart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smart tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smart to the ground. Smart escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Silva dives in for a single leg takedown but Smart sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

An elbow from Smart crashes against the mat.

Smart scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Silva is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Smart can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
