These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Fury!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fury has ONeill up against the cage in a clinch.
Fury goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Fury misses with a punch on the inside.
Fury blocking some punches.
ONeill throws a head punch that misses.

Fury breaks the clinch.
ONeill seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Fury tries a head kick but it misses.
Fury scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
ONeill throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Fury counters with a nice uppercut.

Fury moves into the clinch.
ONeill blocking some punches.
ONeill lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Fury backwards.
Fury takes a shot to the head.
ONeill tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Fury breaks from the clinch.
ONeill throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
ONeill throws a head kick that misses.
Fury looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

That's one minute gone in the round.
ONeill swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Fury misses the jab.
Nice defenses there by Fury.
Fury doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

ONeill gets tackled into the cage by Fury. Fury maintains the clinch.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from ONeill.
ONeill lands a hook to the side of the head.
Fury misses with a short punch on the inside.
A left hand lands to the body for ONeill.
ONeill makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
ONeill lands a nice uppercut.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Fury.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for ONeill.
Fury tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

ONeill pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fury waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract ONeill.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fury darts in and clinches ONeill up against the cage.
ONeill misses with a body punch.
ONeill swings wildly with an uppercut but Fury uses good head movement to avoid it.

Fury escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fury wants to clinch.
Fury moves forwards but ONeill connects with a nice, crisp jab.

It looks like John Fury has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fury misses with a straight left.

ONeill cracks Fury with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. ONeill has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Fury to stand back up!
Fury misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
ONeill swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Fury is holding his hands too far apart here. ONeill throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Fury is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dempsey ONeill!
Dempsey ONeill retains his light heavyweight title!
A very excited looking Dempsey ONeill made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
