Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ruud Altena (ranked 6740 p4p, 24283 weight class) and Guillermo Mendoza (ranked 632 p4p, 661 weight class). Altena comes to the cage accompanied by Grontapu by Double Rock. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Guillermo Mendoza!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Mendoza, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mendoza throws a combination that misses
and Altena counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Guillermo Mendoza has been cut.
Altena dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Altena moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Altena moves into range and clinches up with Mendoza.

Altena lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Altena prevents Mendoza from breaking the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Altena creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Altena keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mendoza's efforts to push away.

Altena dips a shoulder and cracks Mendoza with a mighty uppercut! Mendoza falls back against the cage and Altena unloads with a barrage of strikes! Mendoza is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Altena screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ruud Altena!
