PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Agansing Rai (ranked 459 p4p, 742 weight class) and Nori Voluspa (ranked 68 p4p, 110 weight class). Rai comes to the cage accompanied by Break Stuff. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Alyssa Summers and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Voluspa looking to score a takedown here. Rai is defending well but Voluspa drives through and ends up in Rai's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rai wants to stand up but Voluspa is controlling him.
Rai will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Voluspa looks for a takedown but Rai sprawls well.
Agansing Rai is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fighters circling - Rai throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rai is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Voluspa.

Voluspa is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rai is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rai has escaped and now he's on top!

Voluspa closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Agansing Rai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nori Voluspa.

Rai escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Voluspa moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Rai changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Voluspa takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Rai scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Voluspa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rai tries to avoid it but Voluspa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rai to the ground. Rai escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

My spies in The Jungle Room inform me that Voluspa has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Voluspa connects with a nice short shot to Rai's temple.
