Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Beach (ranked 568 p4p, 522 weight class) and Mike Holmes Jr (ranked 79 p4p, 72 weight class). Holmes Jr has chosen Red - Damage as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sammy Beach!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Holmes Jr!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Summer Carpenter and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beach throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Holmes Jr has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Beach with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Holmes Jr just misses with a punch to the body.

Beach takes the fight into the clinch.

Beach lands a hook to the side of the head.

Holmes Jr pulls guard effortlessly.

Holmes Jr has an active guard here but Beach has managed to pass into half guard.
Beach frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Holmes Jr is looking for a sweep. Beach is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beach looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Holmes Jr gets full guard.

Holmes Jr has his foot on Beach's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Beach works his way back into a safe position though.

Beach got a little sloppy there for a moment and Holmes Jr has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Beach has managed to get both his arms back between Holmes Jr's legs - danger averted.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Sammy Beach will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Beach looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but Sammy Beach did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Holmes Jr! But no joy.

Beach takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Beach ducks down and throws a big overhand right - it lands flush on the jaw, knocking Holmes Jr out cold! The fight is over!
