Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Gentil (ranked 991 p4p, 825 weight class) and Bryant Smith (ranked 137 p4p, 115 weight class). Smith has chosen Television - Marquee Moon as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a low kick but it's checked well by Gentil.
Gentil throwing a counter right hand but Smith manages to avoid it.

Smith lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Smith punishes Gentil's body with a nice straight punch.

Smith jabs Gentil right on the nose. Gentil blinks but takes it well.

Some bone on bone action there as Gentil checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Nice straight punches there by Gentil. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gentil.

Smith lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Smith feints a jab promting Gentil to slip. Smith then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Gentil slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Gentil drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

and Gentil connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gentil throws a jab but it's blocked by Smith.
Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gentil was well out of range. Poor timing from Smith.

Smith moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Gentil is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Smith scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gentil doesn't seem bothered though.

Smith throws a push kick but Gentil slaps the foot to one side.
Smith feints a jab promting Gentil to slip. Smith then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Gentil slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

and Gentil cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Smith tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Gentil is able to avoid easily.
It looked like Gentil wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Smith loads up on a big right hand but Gentil slips the punch.
Gentil's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Smith connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gentil scrambles back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
