Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Dutch Schultz (ranked 19719 p4p, 1829 weight class) and Kenny Smith (ranked 664 p4p, 245 weight class). Smith is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by IS THIS LOVE. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dutch Schultz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kenny Smith!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith's corner calls for a 1-2. Smith obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Kenny Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schultz avoids the head kick by Smith.
Smith throws a hook to the side of Schultz's head but Schultz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Schultz bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Smith's head backwards.

It looks like Kenny Smith has been cut.
Smith on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Schultz looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.
Smith throws out a powerful jab.
Schultz avoids the head kick by Smith.

We've been informed that Smith has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
Schultz throws a series of strikes that have Smith backpedaling.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Schultz moves out of range easily.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Schultz is looking to counter punch.
Schultz works Smith's body with a nice hook.
A punch lands to the side of Smith 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Smith misses with a head kick.
Schultz throws out a powerful jab.

Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Schultz loads up on a big right hand but Smith slips the punch.

Schultz lands with a right, followed by a left to the temple and Smith goes down! The ref sends Schultz to a neutral corner so he can begin the count. 3,4,5,6 and Smith is back to his feet. He seems a little groggy but the referee thinks he's OK to continue, so we're back to the action!

Schultz connects with a beautiful left hand that drops Smith onto his butt! Smith bounces straight back up though - he's OK. After the ref checks him out, we're back to the action.

Smith is rocked!
A head kick misses from Smith.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Schultz throws a leg kick which misses Smith's front leg but catches the back leg as Smith tries to avoid it.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Smith crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Schultz - the referee stops the clock and Smith gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Schultz. Smith manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
A solid leg kick lands there for Schultz.
Schultz is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Schultz fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Smith has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A slow jab from Schultz misses its intended target.
Schultz misses with an uppercut.
Schultz sizes up Smith with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

That has opened up Kenny Smith's cut even more.
Smith misses with a head kick.

Schultz cracks Smith with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Smith is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Smith is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9, he's up! Wow, he cut that one a bit fine!
Smith is still on wobbly legs! Can Schultz finish him?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Schultz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away.
Smith seems to have recovered his senses.
Schultz cracks Smith with an open hand slap.
Schultz is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
A head kick by Smith misses
and before Smith has any time to reset, Schultz cracks him with a big right hand that drops him face first to the canvas! He's hurt! I don't think he's going to get back up from that one! He's trying but he's doing the chicken dance and has face planted into to ropes, causing the referee to bring this fight to an end! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Dutch Schultz!
A relieved looking Dutch Schultz thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
