The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scardina fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Shifty is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Shifty lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Scardina gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Scardina is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shifty defends well.
Shifty pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Scardina is keeping the position for now.
Scardina controls Shifty momentarily but Shifty frees himself.
Shifty working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Shifty throws a big right hand that misses.
Shifty stands and throws Scardina's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shifty is chipping away with strikes.

Shifty tries for a kimura but Scardina is defending well.
Shifty working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Shifty is working to tighten his grip on Scardina's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Scardina has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Shifty is really squeezing tight and eventually Scardina passes out! Shifty breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
