Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Oliver Lancaster (ranked 95 p4p, 180 weight class) and Jake Bird (ranked 13 p4p, 22 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oliver Lancaster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Bird!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lancaster misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bird.
Nice defenses there by Bird.
Bird feints the counter takedown.
A jab from Lancaster misses.
Lancaster misses with the combination.
Lancaster scores with a nice right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bird gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Lancaster counters with a straight right hand.

Bird looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Lancaster pulls Bird in close to his closed guard and prevents Bird from doing any damage or advancing position.
Lancaster's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Bird might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lancaster haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Bird tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Bird scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Lancaster tries to buck Bird off but Bird is having none of it.
Lancaster is not content to let Bird control the position.

Bird slows the pace down.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bird wants to control but Lancaster is keeping him busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Oliver Lancaster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lancaster looks to score with a jab to the body but Bird is just out of range.
Bird drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lancaster defends it well.

Bird shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lancaster counters with a straight right hand.

Bird has his takedown stuffed
and Lancaster connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lancaster ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Lancaster digs a good hook to Bird's body.
Bird shoots in but no luck this time.
Oliver Lancaster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Bird.

Bird takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Lancaster is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Bird closes the distance and clinches up with Lancaster, looking for a takedown. Bird pushes Lancaster against the cage but Lancaster circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
The fighters circling - Lancaster throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Lancaster throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
And Bird tries to counter it with a takedown but Lancaster pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Bird dives in and grabs Lancaster's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lancaster pushes down on Bird's head and hops out.
Lancaster looks to score with a jab to the body but Bird is just out of range.
Lancaster keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Lancaster connects with the punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Bird counters with a single leg into guard. Lancaster didn't expect that.
Bird pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lancaster is keeping the position for now.

Bird postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lancaster is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bird, into his guard.

Jake Bird has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bird has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lancaster can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bird has his foot on Lancaster's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lancaster works his way back into a safe position though.
Lancaster is stalling in the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bird has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lancaster can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bird escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lancaster gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bird looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Lancaster passes into side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Lancaster lands with a nice combination. Bird backs away looking to recover.
Bird looks for a takedown but Lancaster sprawls well.
Lancaster misses the jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bird slips a straight right by Lancaster.
Lancaster is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bird can do to turn this around?
Lancaster works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Lancaster punishes Bird's body with a nice straight punch.
Lancaster fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bird looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bird doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lancaster counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Oliver Lancaster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Bird.
Lancaster tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bird was well out of range. Poor timing from Lancaster.
Bird throws a lazy right hand but Lancaster sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A little feinted left hand from Lancaster on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Lancaster throws the left hand but Bird avoids the punch easily.
Bird wants to counter with a clinch but Lancaster pushes him away.

Bird displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lancaster throws out the jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lancaster. Bird does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bird ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Lancaster misses with a double jab.

Bird bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bird is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lancaster has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bird wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lancaster keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bird taking a break here but Lancaster is having none of it and regains half guard.

Bird is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lancaster has managed to free his arm - good work.
Bird trying to control the action but Lancaster is working from the bottom.
Oliver Lancaster is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Bird is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lancaster defends it well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bird is looking for a kimura but Lancaster is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bird to get the leverage.
Lancaster holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Lancaster tries to roll over but Bird keeps him under control.
Lancaster is controlling Bird's trapped leg to prevent Bird from advancing to side control.
Jake Bird has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bird is pressing down on Lancaster's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lancaster is holding on for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lancaster, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
