PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Senior Coles (ranked 4211 p4p, 4350 weight class) and Aleksei Avagov (ranked 465 p4p, 475 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Aleksei Avagov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Coles is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Avagov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Avagov is taking a breather. Coles says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coles manages to get to full guard.
Avagov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Avagov wants to pass the guard but Coles is keeping the position. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Avagov throws a sloppy strike and Coles has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Avagov is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Coles!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Senior Coles! A very excited looking Senior Coles made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
