Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Ubaldo Cortez (ranked 4457 p4p, 2956 weight class) and Yasol Kim (ranked 548 p4p, 377 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ubaldo Cortez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yasol Kim! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kim misses the jab. A quick step to the side and Cortez tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Kim takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Kim fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Cortez is out of range. Kim misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cortez.
Cortez appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Kim lands with a good body shot. Kim misses with a right hand and Cortez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Kim doesn't manage to clinch there - Cortez circles away.
Kim buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kim missing with a left hand there. Cortez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cortez misses with a left hand and Kim counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Kim listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Cortez has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Primal Concrete Gym in the buildup to the fight. Kim swings widly with a right hand
letting Cortez counter with a right hand. Kim has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Cortez takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kim misses with a hook.

Kim throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Cortez counter with a right hand. A low kick from Kim misses and Cortez counters with a low kick, right behind Kim 's knee. Cortez moves forwards but Kim connects with a nice, crisp jab. Yasol Kim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cortez scores with a push kick. Kim lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Cortez keeps the fight on the outside. Cortez appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Kim swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cortez counters with a straight right hand. Cortez misses with a wild body shot. Kim tries to clinch up. As Kim looks to move away, Cortez throws a big counter combo but Kim just gets out of the way. Cortez scores with a body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kim is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cortez. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cortez misses with an uppercut. Kim saw that one coming. Kim misses with a right hand and Cortez counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Kim fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cortez manages to avoid it. An inside leg kick lands from Cortez. Cortez scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kim doesn't seem bothered though. Cortez on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Kim scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cortez doesn't seem bothered though. Cortez misses with a body shot.
Kim cracks a nice hook into Cortez's ribs. Kim walks into a stiff left hand from Cortez. Kim goes for a high kick. It partially lands. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ubaldo Cortez will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. Kim lands a leg kick that knocks Cortez off balance momentarily. A swing and a miss from Cortez. Cortez checks a leg kick. Kim throws a body kick that misses. Cortez throws a wild body kick that Kim sees coming a mile off. Kim moves in looking to clinch but Cortez pushes him off. Cortez uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kim has time to react. Cortez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kim. Cortez ducks under a wild hook from Kim. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kim ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Cortez throws a big shot that misses. Cortez looks to score with a jab to the body but Kim is just out of range. Cortez throws a body punch but Kim moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kim lands a really nice looking cross but Cortez seems unphased.
Cortez scores with a hook to the body. Kim takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Kim uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cortez. Kim flicks out a counter leg kick but Cortez steps away. Kim moves out of range of the strikes. Ubaldo Cortez is winning the standup battle so far. The fight stays on the outside here - Kim looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cortez jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Kim bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Cortez's head. Cortez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Kim tries to clinch but Cortez moves out of range. Cortez appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Kim comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Cortez stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kim.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Kim blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Cortez. A short body shot lands from Kim as the two fighters clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action! Cortez has a couple of punches blocked by Kim.

Kim lands a hook to the side of the head. Cortez misses with a hook from the clinch. Kim lands with a right to the head. Cortez throws a punch but it's blocked by Kim. Cortez misses with a punch on the inside.

Kim blocks a body shot from Cortez. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Yasol Kim will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round! Kim throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Cortez doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Kim takes a swing at Cortez's ribcage but misses. Kim misses with a hook. Cortez ducked under it nicely. Cortez throws a right hand that misses

Kim scores with a crisp jab that stopped Cortez in his tracks. Kim lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Kim. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Kim looks to throw the jab but Cortez is out of range. Cortez misses with a shot to the body and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Kim throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Cortez dips to his left and cracks Kim with an uppercut! A nice inside leg kick there by Kim. That's going to slow Cortez down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cortez takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Cortez swings for the body but Kim moves out of range.
Kim throws a hook to the side of Cortez's head but Cortez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Cortez misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kim.
Kim moves in looking to clinch but Cortez pushes him off. A little feinted left hand from Cortez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Kim wants to clinch. Kim pushes Cortez up against the ropes in a clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Cortez working aggressively here.

And that's the end of the fight! Yasol Kim comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Kim has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
