Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bo Garrett (ranked 609 p4p, 1002 weight class) and Tomohiro Tanahashi (ranked 88 p4p, 132 weight class). Tanahashi has chosen Love & Energy as his entrance music. Tomohiro Tanahashi will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bo Garrett!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tomohiro Tanahashi!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garrett connects with a body shot.
Garrett throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tanahashi now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Garrett tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tanahashi was well out of range. Poor timing from Garrett.
Tanahashi uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Garrett.
Tanahashi throws a lazy right hand but Garrett sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Garrett is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Garrett throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tanahashi let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Garrett connects with a body shot.
Garrett looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Garrett gets a takedown into half guard.
Tanahashi manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Garrett keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tanahashi pushes Garrett back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Tanahashi blocks a body shot from Garrett.

Tanahashi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

letting Tanahashi counter with a right hand.
Garrett thuds a left hand into Tanahashi's body.
Tanahashi missing with a left hand there. Garrett was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Garrett tries to counter by clinching up but Tanahashi breaks away and moves out of range.
Garrett lunges at Tanahashi with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Tanahashi's hand.
Garrett throws an overhand right that lands on Tanahashi's shoulder, as Tanahashi tries to avoid the shot.
Tanahashi swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Tanahashi takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Garrett scores with a jab.
Bo Garrett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slow jab from Garrett misses its intended target.
A countering left hand to the body from Tanahashi misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Garrett misses the target.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tanahashi takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Tanahashi tries a low kick but Garrett avoids it.
Garrett misses with a wild body shot.
Tanahashi feints a counter leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Garrett misses with a hook to the body
and Tanahashi counters with a nice uppercut.
Garrett cracks Tanahashi with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Tanahashi walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Garrett throws a right and a left that Tanahashi avoids nicely.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Tanahashi! But no joy.
Garrett throws a right hand that misses
and Tanahashi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Garrett lands a nice shot to the body.
Garrett ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tanahashi moves away.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Garrett throws out a loose jab but Tanahashi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tanahashi looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Garrett misses with a hook to the body
and Garrett takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Garrett throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Garrett misses with a lunging right hand
and Tanahashi counters with a crisp one two that drops Garrett! Tanahashi thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Garrett to his feet! Garrett is in big trouble!
Garrett is rocked!
Garrett connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Oh Garrett is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Garrett throws a body punch but Tanahashi moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Tanahashi on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Garrett seems to have got his legs back now.
Garrett ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tanahashi moves away.
Tanahashi slips under a jab.
Tomohiro Tanahashi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Garrett misses with a body punch
and as Garrett loses concentration momentarily, Tanahashi counters with a picture perfect head kick! Garrett goes down, out cold! The referee rushed in to check on his condition - I'm sure he'll be ok but that was a massive knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Tomohiro Tanahashi!

After winning the bout, Tomohiro Tanahashi thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
