Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jaquon Jones (ranked 1812 p4p, 1155 weight class) and Kermit Archer (ranked 244 p4p, 155 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jaquon Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kermit Archer! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones looks to land a left hand but Archer moved out of range nicely. Jones is looking to clinch. Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Archer moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Jones lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Archer throws a front kick that sends Jones stumbling back into the cage. Archer shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Archer gets tackled into the cage by Jones. Jones maintains the clinch. I was talking to Jones's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Jones tries to throw a body punch but Archer avoids it by throwing Jones back against the cage. Archer misses with a hook from the clinch. Jones tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Archer's elbow. Jones pulls Archer into guard.
Archer postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
It looks like Jaquon Jones has been cut. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Archer throwing strikes but missing. Archer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Archer wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
That's one minute gone in the round. Archer is working Jones over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Archer trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones has momentary wrist control but Archer slips an elbow through the middle. Archer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Jones lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Archer keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Jones trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Archer manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Jones has his foot on Archer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Archer works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Archer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now. Archer is in close to Jones's body, working some short punches and elbows. Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Archer wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position. Archer is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Jaquon Jones's cut is getting worse. Archer chips away with some ground and pound.
Jeez, Jaquon Jones's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jaquon Jones's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kermit Archer! A relieved looking Kermit Archer thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
