PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kung Li (ranked 3029 p4p, 5984 weight class) and Cameron Betts (ranked 311 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kung Li!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Cameron Betts!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Betts is defended easily by Li.

Li closes the distance and clinches.
Li throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Bettss head.
Li lands a hook to the side of the head.
Li lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Betts backwards.

Li ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Li no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Li is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Betts has hold of Li's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Li manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Betts takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Betts is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Li is defending well though. Betts let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Betts is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Li defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Li avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Li seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Li scores with a jab. Betts acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Betts rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Li moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Li slaps away a takedown attempt from Betts, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Betts tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Li throws the left hand but Betts avoids the punch easily.
Betts feints the counter takedown.
Betts slips under a jab from Li.
Betts shoots in but Li avoids the takedown attempt easily.
It looked like Li wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Li throws out a loose jab but Betts uses good head movement to avoid it.

Betts gets tackled into the cage by Li. Li maintains the clinch.
Li lands with a right to the head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Betts manages to break the clinch.

Betts attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Betts seems to have recovered his senses.
Betts tries to pull guard but Li forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Kung Li has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cameron Betts.

Betts postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Betts wants to control from the top but Li keeps moving.
Betts is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Betts got a little sloppy there for a moment and Li has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Betts has managed to get both his arms back between Li's legs - danger averted.

Li gets through Betts's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Li has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Betts uses from the top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Li's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Li duly obliges.

Betts changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Li has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Betts uses from the top position.

Li closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Li is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kung Li showed his dominance in that final round.
