PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Playboi Guerrero (ranked 4096 p4p, 3633 weight class) and Mohammed Abul (ranked 486 p4p, 450 weight class). Abul has chosen Fear of the Dark as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Playboi Guerrero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mohammed Abul!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guerrero shoots in for a takedown but Abul shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
It seemed like Abul was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Jab, jab by Abul - just one landing.
Guerrero misses with a looping right.
Abul missing with a left hand there. Guerrero was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Abul connects with a single shot there.
Abul avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Guerrero throws a series of punches but Abul avoids them all with ease.
Abul fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Abul lands a nice shot that snaps Guerrero's head back.
Abul swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Guerrero.
Abul lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Guerrero at a distance.
Nice uppercut lands for Abul. That snapped Guerrero's head back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd cheers as Abul lands an impressive looking overhand right. Guerrero doesn't seem phased though.
Guerrero seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Abul slips a jab from Guerrero.
Abul fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Guerrero on the side of the head.

Guerrero misses with an uppercut
and Abul counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Playboi Guerrero has been cut.
Abul stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Guerrero misses with a two punch combination.
Abul lands a jab to Guerrero's midsection.
Guerrero on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Mohammed Abul is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Abul lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Guerrero at a distance.
Abul lands with a nice body punch.
Abul is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Guerrero had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Guerrero fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Abul scores with a nice right hand.
A jab lands there for Abul.
Mohammed Abul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Abul lands a nice shot that snaps Guerrero's head back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Abul smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Abul clobbers Guerrero with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Abul sizes up Guerrero with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Guerrero throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Abul counter with a right hand.
Abul throws a looping overhand right but Guerrero ducks down to avoid it.

Guerrero feints and as Abul raises his hands in defense, Guerrero changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Guerrero is fighting to break Abul's control of his arms but Abul is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Guerrero in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Guerrero stops Abul from standing up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Guerrero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Abul swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Guerrero wants to control from the top but Abul keeps moving.
Abul looking for a sweep. Not yet Abul, not yet.
Guerrero throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Guerrero throws a looping overhand right but Abul ducks down to avoid it.
Abul lands with a good body shot.
Guerrero takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Abul fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Guerrero manages to avoid it.
Abul scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Abul throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Guerrero sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Guerrero throws a big counter combination but Abul scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Abul misses with a body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Abul slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Guerrero ducks right into an uppercut from Abul.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Abul, as that shot connected.
Abul throws out a powerful jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Abul lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Guerrero loads up on a big right hand but Abul slips the punch.
Abul lands a body shot.
Abul connects with a right hand. Guerrero shakes it off.
Abul scores with a jab to the body.
Guerrero uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Abul.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Abul throws an overhand right that lands on Guerrero's shoulder, as Guerrero tries to avoid the shot.
Abul moves out of range as Guerrero strikes.
Abul lands a glancing blow to the side of Guerrero's head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mohammed Abul dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Playboi Guerrero's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Guerrero closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A big right from Abul misses.
Guerrero looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Abul tests Guerrero's chin there with a solid looking shot.
