PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Faulk (ranked 1086 p4p, 1458 weight class) and Parta Matti (ranked 28 p4p, 45 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Faulk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Parta Matti!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Faulk drops his hands momentarily and Matti takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Matti misses with a two punch combination.
Matti tries to land a leg kick but Faulk saw it coming and moves away.
Faulk was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've been told by Faulk's head coaches at League of Shadows MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Matti lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Faulk is looking to chop away at Matti's legs.
Matti throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Matti keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matti misses with a few strikes there.
Faulk rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Matti counters with a nice uppercut.
Faulk misses with a straight left.
Matti throws a counter combo.
Matti is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Matti lands with a hook. Faulk tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Faulk attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Matti! But no joy.
Faulk dodges the punch combination from Matti.
Matti throws a looping overhand right but Faulk ducks down to avoid it.

Matti blocks a leg kick.
It seemed like Matti was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
We've been informed that Matti has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Matti ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
An inside leg kick lands from Matti.
Matti misses the body punch
and Faulk counters with a slapping leg kick.
Matti throws a head kick but Faulk moves out of range.
Faulk misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Matti counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Matti throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Matti staying out of range there.
Matti let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Faulk misses with a looping left.
Faulk jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Faulk on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Faulk throws out a loose jab but Matti uses good head movement to avoid it.
Matti looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Faulk closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Matti thows a left - swing and a miss!
A little feinted left hand from Faulk on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Faulk is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Matti's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Faulk pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Matti sends Faulk crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Matti is motioning to the referee to let Faulk up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Faulk is rocked!
Matti is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Faulk had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Faulk chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Matti can pounce on him.
Oh Faulk is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Matti throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
As Matti backs away, Faulk returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Faulk seems to have got his legs back now.
Matti connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Faulk to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Matti!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Parta Matti!
