The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Konstantin Menshow and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
Cruz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cruz lands in his opponent's guard.
Bandares has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Cruz is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Bandares.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cruz has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Cruz is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Bandares won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Cruz off his unconscious opponent!
