Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Smart (ranked 153 p4p, 131 weight class) and Herb Krison (ranked 25 p4p, 0 weight class). Krison has chosen Rebelution as his entrance music. Herb Krison has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Peter Smart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 44 - 23 - 1, fighting out of London, Herb Krison! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Krison misses with a body kick. Krison misses with a body shot.
Krison fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Smart has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Smart definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. The fighters circling - Krison throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Smart looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Krison! Krison is trying to control Smart's posture but Smart avoids it. Smart is working Krison over with some ground and pound from side control. Smart tries to score with some ground and pound. Krison controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Smart lands a few punches from side control. The ground and pound from Smart seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Smart working the body and head with strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Krison is trying to control Smart's posture but Smart avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Krison might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Smart haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Smart tries to score with some ground and pound. Krison controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Krison tries to buck Smart off but Smart is having none of it. Smart wants to lay and pray for a moment but Krison keeps working. Smart landing a few strikes. Krison tries to get back to half guard but can't. Smart working the strikes but Krison uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Krison blocking the ground and pound attempt from Smart. Nice strikes from Smart there. Smart throws a strike but Krison avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Krison pulls Smart in close to his closed guard and prevents Smart from doing any damage or advancing position. Smart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Krison swivels though and keeps the full guard. Krison pulls Smart in close to prevent any damage. Smart throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Krison trying to control the position here. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Smart's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Krison wants to control the position but Smart says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Krison looking for submissions off his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smart missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Krison keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Krison has hold of Smart's hands but Smart slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Krison holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Krison works his way to full guard. Good work. Smart trying to control the position from guard on top but Krison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smart stopping the sweep attempt from Krison. Smart working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Smart loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Krison avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smart postures up in Krison's guard and throws a big left but Krison blocks it. Smart with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Krison looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Smart chips away with some ground and pound. Smart lands a couple of decent looking shots. Smart loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Krison trying to control the position.
Smart trying to control but Krison is working from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Smart lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Krison trying to control the position.

Peter Smart dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Krison moves out of range of the leg kick from Smart. Smart shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Krison manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Krison trying to control the position here. Smart is looking to work some ground and pound but Krison has wrist control. Smart throws a strike but Krison rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smart looking to control.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Smart holds on and takes a little breather. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smart is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Krison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smart swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Krison slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Krison tries to free his leg and advance position but Smart is retaining full guard. Smart has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Krison has passed into side control.
Smart is looking to reverse the position. Smart is being controlled here. Smart tries to buck Krison off but Krison is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Smart is letting Krison control him for a moment. Smart has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Smart regains half guard. Krison wants to control but Smart is keeping him busy. Smart has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Krison is working away from the top position though. Smart is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Krison can do to turn this around?
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Smart lands a nice shot that snaps Krison's head back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Krison misses with a hook. Smart ducked under it nicely. Smart appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Smart misses with a lunging right hand
and Krison counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Herb Krison is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Krison stuffs the takedown attempt from Smart. Smart gets slowly back to his feet. Peter Smart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smart tries to clinch but Krison moves out of range. Krison with a hook. Krison ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Krison comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Smart loads up on a big right hand but Krison slips the punch. Krison throws the left hand but Smart avoids the punch easily. Smart tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Krison was well out of range. Poor timing from Smart. Krison throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Smart tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Krison manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Smart throws a jab but it's blocked by Krison. Krison just misses with a punch to the body.

Smart fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Krison throws a front kick aimed at Smart's knee but Smart avoids it well. Herb Krison seems to be getting the better of the standup. Smart misses with a body kick. Smart moves out of range of the body kick. Smart tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Krison paws at him with a jab and circles away. Smart shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smart showed some decent athleticism there. Smart is looking to stall here but Krison recovers full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Herb Krison showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round! Krison throws a nice inside leg kick. Smart avoids a kick to the body.

Smart misses the shot to the body. A shot to the body from Smart misses and Krison counters with an inside leg kick. Smart has a takedown stuffed. Krison connects with a nice looking jab.

That's one minute gone in the round. Smart lands a nice looking body kick. Horrible takedown attempt by Smart or perhaps it was just good defense by Krison, which made it look bad. Krison throws a poor cross that misses
and Smart counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Krison takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Krison looks to land a right hand but Smart moved out of range. Krison throws a nice outside leg kick. Krison cracks Smart with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Krison gets caught napping as Smart dives in and scores a takedown. Krison manages to retain guard. Smart postures up in Krison's guard and throws a big left but Krison blocks it. Krison keeping moving, preventing Smart from controlling successfully. Smart distracts Krison with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Krison pulls Smart in to control the position. Smart is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Krison is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Krison has his hands on Smart's head, controlling the position. Smart sitting in guard, not really doing much.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Peter Smart. I think Smart has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
