Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Apollinaire Aury (ranked 3378 p4p, 5465 weight class) and Merton Snel (ranked 430 p4p, 588 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Aury might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Party Up. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Apollinaire Aury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Merton Snel!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snel ducks under a wild hook from Aury.
Snel tries to counter with a clinch but Aury shakes him off and moves away.
Snel drives through and clinches with Aury against the ropes.
Aury drops down looking for an ankle pick but Snel pulls his leg out and moves away.
Snel looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
It looks like Merton Snel has been cut.
Aury lands a jab to Snel's midsection.
Aury pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Snel has managed to clinch.
Snel keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Aury's efforts to push away.
Snel tries to stall but Aury uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snel misses with a knee strike.
Snel is trying to maintain a safe position but Aury gets an underhook and turns Snel into the ropes.

Snel seems frustrated at his inability to get double underhooks.

Snel throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Aury blocks it with crossed arms.

Snel will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Aury up against the ropes.
Aury has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Snel after a bit of a struggle.
Snel is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Merton Snel.
Snel darts in and clinches Aury up against the ropes.

Aury has been working on his balance at Gold Samurai's Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Snel.
Snel using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Aury has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Aury jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Snel walks away with a smile on his face. Aury gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Apollinaire Aury. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Snel closes the distance but Aury moves to the side
enabling Aury to counter with a crisp jab.
Snel takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Snel pushes Aury up against the ropes in a clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Aury's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Aury avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Aury connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Snel takes one on the button.
Aury paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Snel takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Snel is rocked!

Aury scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Snel is still on wobbly legs! Can Aury finish him?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Aury cracks Snel on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Snel falls backwards against the ropes. Aury follows up with more strikes that drop Snel to his knees. Aury keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Snel! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Apollinaire Aury!
