PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Justin Case (ranked 2295 p4p, 1293 weight class) and Tree Fortay (ranked 195 p4p, 115 weight class). Fortay comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Choice Is Yours kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Tree Fortay enters the cage!

With a record of 25 - 14 - 1, fighting out of London, Tree Fortay!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fortay fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Case has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A jab from Fortay does it's job there.
Fortay looks to land a left hand but Case moved out of range nicely.
Tree Fortay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fortay misses with an uppercut
and Case counters with a one-two to the body.
Case shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Fortay misses with a right hand
and Case counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Fortay connects with a good right hand that stumbles Case. Case circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Case throws a head kick that misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Case.

Fortay felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

We've been hearing that Case has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Case is trying to control. Fortay wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Case is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Case might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Fortay is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Fortay tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Case is able to avoid easily.
A quick step to the side and Case tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Case uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fortay.
Fortay looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Case appears to be looking for a big counter.
Case takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Fortay is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Case.
Case looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
This has been an exciting period of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Justin Case will probably get the nod.

As Fortay backs away, Case returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
