The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lake lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Leung circles away quickly and effectively. No luck with that takedown attempt from Leung. Lake tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Leung paws at him with a jab and circles away. Lake misses with a hook
and Leung counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Lake! Lake throws Leung to one side and escapes! Leung feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lake can do anything to dispel that myth. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Leung stays in close to Lake's body and controls the position. Leung's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Lake is looking to stand up but Leung isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leung sitting in guard here, content to control. Leung seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lake for as long as he can get away with. Leung pushing down on Lake's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Leung trying to control the pace. Leung looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Leung lands with a punch from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Leung winds up and cracks Lake with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Leung is figuring out what he wants to do next. Further stalling from Leung. Leung is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lake doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Leung. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Leung content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lake on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Leung with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Leung is looking for a kimura but Lake is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Leung to get the leverage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Leung blocks the strikes from Lake.
Lake is trying to stand back up but Leung is controlling him
Still in half guard, Leung seems content to control. Leung has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Lake defend it? Leung steps over the head and cranks it - Lake is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Leung!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Alvin Leung! Alvin Leung really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Shadow Realm Apparel logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
