Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jubei Akechi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bruce Chang!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chang forces Akechi back against the cage and clinches.
Akechi slows down the pace here.
We've been hearing reports that Akechi has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Akechi.
Chang's coach down at Punch Out Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Chang's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Akechi prevents a body shot from Chang.
Akechi tightens his grip and picks Chang up, before dumping him to the ground. Chang manages to land in guard.
Akechi lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Akechi is looking to work some ground and pound but Chang has wrist control.
Akechi wants to control from the top but Chang keeps moving.
Chang not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Chang manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Akechi manages to get himself to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chang postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Chang throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Chang sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Akechi doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Chang paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Akechi - great work!
