Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ultima Koivisto (ranked 118 p4p, 213 weight class) and Lynton Miller (ranked 16 p4p, 26 weight class). Miller has chosen Tool - Sober as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 28 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ultima Koivisto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 21 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Lynton Miller! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koivisto lands a really nice looking cross but Miller seems unphased.
It looks like Lynton Miller has been cut. Miller scoring well with a low kick there.
Miller throws a lazy uppercut
letting Koivisto counter with a right hand. Koivisto on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Miller looks to land a right hand but Koivisto moved out of range. Koivisto throwing a counter right hand but Miller manages to avoid it. Miller connects with a nice looking jab.

Miller fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Koivisto has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Miller shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Koivisto sprawls well. Koivisto wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Miller gets slowly back to his feet. Miller misses with a wild body shot. Koivisto bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Miller's head backwards. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Miller scores with a shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Koivisto manages to avoid it. Miller dips to his left and cracks Koivisto with an uppercut! Koivisto throws a big shot that misses. Miller drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Koivisto defends it well. Miller misses with a hook to the body
and Koivisto counters with a straight right hand. Koivisto takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Miller pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Koivisto throws a right and a left that both miss. Koivisto needs to keep his hands up - Miller had a free shot at his head there. Miller fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Koivisto manages to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A solid leg kick lands there for Miller.
Miller ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Miller. Koivisto is looking to counter punch. Miller's jab looks to have found its range, popping Koivisto under the eye. Miller with a lazy takedown attempt and Miller takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That has opened up Lynton Miller's cut even more. Ultima Koivisto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lynton Miller. Miller throws a half hearted mid kick. Miller misses with a straight right. Koivisto half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Miller throws the kick towards the body but Koivisto avoids it. Miller lands a nice hook to Koivisto's body. Koivisto takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Koivisto lands with a hook. Miller tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Miller connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Miller cracks Koivisto with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Miller has his takedown stuffed and Koivisto counters with a nice uppercut. Koivisto misses with a looping left. Miller looks to score with a jab to the body but Koivisto is just out of range. Koivisto stuffs the takedown. Miller shoots in for a takedown but Koivisto shows good takedown defense. Miller thows a left - swing and a miss! Miller shoots in and bounces Koivisto off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miller accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Koivisto controlling Miller's posture. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Miller working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Koivisto keeping full guard, as Miller tries to pass. Miller stopping the sweep attempt from Koivisto. Koivisto working for a triangle but Miller defends it easily.
Koivisto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miller manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Lynton Miller will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Lynton Miller's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Koivisto walks into a left hand. Miller tries for a takedown but Koivisto circles away easily and Koivisto counters with a stiff right hand. Koivisto does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Miller cracks Koivisto with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Miller fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Koivisto is out of range. Koivisto takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Lynton Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Miller lands a body shot.
Koivisto tries to clinch up but Miller circles away and keeps his distance. Miller is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Koivisto moves out of range as Miller strikes. Miller darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big right from Miller misses. Koivisto blocks a jab. Koivisto went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Miller fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Koivisto appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Koivisto slips under a jab. Koivisto throwing a counter right hand but Miller manages to avoid it. Koivisto misses with a straight left. Miller fails with the takedown and Koivisto counters with a nice uppercut. Ultima Koivisto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lynton Miller. Miller drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Koivisto looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Koivisto working a defensive guard here.

Koivisto is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Koivisto avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Miller throwing strikes but missing. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Koivisto is on top in guard.
Miller has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Miller controlling Koivisto's posture. Koivisto missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Koivisto looking to sit in guard and control but Miller gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Miller postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Koivisto manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Miller manages to get himself to full guard.

Koivisto throwing strikes from guard but Miller blocks nicely. Miller keeping moving, preventing Koivisto from controlling successfully. Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Koivisto throws an elbow that misses. Miller uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Koivisto's guard. Nice move by Miller!

Ultima Koivisto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Miller fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Miller connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Koivisto momentarily.

Miller shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Koivisto but Koivisto pushes him off and we're back to square one. Koivisto half committed to a counter leg kick. Koivisto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Miller is fending him off so far but Koivisto persists. Nope, Miller circles away and we're back to standing. Miller feints the counter takedown. Miller misses with a double jab.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Koivisto crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Miller - the referee stops the clock and Koivisto gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Miller. Koivisto manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Miller throws a push kick but Koivisto slaps the foot to one side. A little feinted left hand from Koivisto on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Miller gets off balance looking for a body kick and Koivisto connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Miller shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Miller was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Koivisto gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Koivisto tries to get to full guard but Miller has control of the leg. Miller throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Koivisto to regain full guard. Koivisto trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Koivisto looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Miller passes into half guard. Koivisto has hold of Miller's hands but Miller slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Koivisto wants to improve his position but Miller is controlling well.
Koivisto is trying to maintain the position but Miller is very close to passing his half guard. Lynton Miller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Miller is taking a breather. Koivisto says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Miller working Koivisto over with strikes. Miller working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Lynton Miller has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Miller keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Koivisto flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Koivisto misses with an uppercut. Miller saw that one coming.
And that's the end of the fight! Lynton Miller comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Miller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
