PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tory Hopkins (ranked 362 p4p, 605 weight class) and Gotan Wasselach (ranked 55 p4p, 90 weight class). Hopkins kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Last Time That I Checc'd by Nipsey Hussle & YG. Wasselach has chosen Time Is On My Side by Maze as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gotan Wasselach!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Wasselach.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Hopkins scores with a nice body kick.
Wasselach with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hopkins to score with a decent uppercut.

It looks like Gotan Wasselach has been cut.
Hopkins looks to score with a jab to the body but Wasselach is just out of range.

and Hopkins counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hopkins cracks Wasselach with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Wasselach jabs Hopkins right on the nose. Hopkins blinks but takes it well.

A quick step to the side and Hopkins tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Hopkins throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Wasselach is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Wasselach shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Wasselach has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hopkins finds it's way round the side to connect with Wasselach's head.

That has opened up Gotan Wasselach's cut even more.
Hopkins moves out of range as Wasselach strikes.
Wasselach's corner calls for a 1-2. Wasselach obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Hopkins feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Wasselachs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Wasselach takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Hopkins takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The cut above Gotan Wasselach's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Wasselach misses with a hook. Hopkins ducked under it nicely.

A little jabbing left from Wasselach on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Hopkins smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

A little jabbing left from Wasselach on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Hopkins tries to score with a low kick but Wasselach moves his leg out of the way.
Hopkins moves out of range of the strikes.
A counter left hand to the body from Hopkins misses its target.
Hopkins lands with a nice body punch.
Hopkins rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wasselach moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hopkins lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with each other but Wasselach might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Hopkins has got the better of the exchanges.
