Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Mercer (ranked 731 p4p, 843 weight class) and Tommy Gavin (ranked 83 p4p, 95 weight class). Mercer comes into the arena with Why Can't We Be Friends by WAR blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Tommy Gavin!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mercer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gavin was well out of range. Poor timing from Mercer.

Gavin unleashes a big counter combination but Mercer bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

That's time! Mercer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

No joy there for Mercer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mercer pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gavin is out of range and Mercer settles back down.

Gavin takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Some bone on bone action there as Gavin checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mercer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gavin manages to avoid it.
Mercer has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mercer there as he acknowledges the shot.

Tommy Gavin decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
In defeat, Bobby Mercer stepped up to the mic, saying 'This was an eye opener. I completely underestimated my opponent & he caught me. I got to start winning again. I can be better.'.
