PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hyatt Wayne (ranked 2064 p4p, 3192 weight class) and Eddie Bravo (ranked 249 p4p, 357 weight class). Wayne's entrance music is SOAD - Aerials. A fine choice. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hyatt Wayne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eddie Bravo!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wayne fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bravo manages to avoid it.
Bravo throws out a counter right but Wayne avoids it with no problem.
Wayne misses with a hook.
Bravo is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Bravo defending well as Wayne loads up on a big left hand.
Bravo takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
A big right from Wayne misses.
Wayne's corner calls for a 1-2. Wayne obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Wayne cracks Bravo with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Wayne fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bravo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Wayne misses with a left hand

and Bravo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wayne's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bravo trying to control but Wayne is working from the bottom.
Wayne is controlling Bravo's posture.
Wayne avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bravo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wayne looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wayne looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wayne!

Bravo is looking for a sweep.
Wayne tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Wayne trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bravo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wayne's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Bravo wants to get back to full guard.
Bravo is pressing down on Wayne's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bravo is trying to control the position but Wayne postures up.

Bravo is looking to cinch up a triangle. Wayne throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Bravo's body to avoid the submission. Bravo has instead reached around Wayne's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Bravo arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Eddie Bravo!
