PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ty Wong (ranked 2118 p4p, 3087 weight class) and Soren Hansen (ranked 258 p4p, 345 weight class). Hansen is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by If I had a heart. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ty Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Soren Hansen!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wong instigates a clinch.

Wong is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hansen is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Wong to the mat. Wong regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Wong looking for a sweep. Not yet Wong, not yet.
Wong trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Hansen sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Wong has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hansen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wong is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hansen is aware though and is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hansen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wong works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hansen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Wong is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hansen defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wong is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hansen has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Dillo's Dojo. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Wong has his foot on Hansen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hansen works his way back into a safe position though.

Wong fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hansen avoids it really well and circles away.

That's time! Wong's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Wong swings for the body but Hansen moves out of range.
Hansen tries to counter by closing the distance.
Hansen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Wong avoids the body shot from Hansen.

Hansen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hansen is nestled in close to Wong, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Hansen is keen to just control but Wong is a slippery customer.

Hansen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wong has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hansen is working away from the top position though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hansen stands up over Wong, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Soren Hansen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

A combination from Wong does no damage.

Hansen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee asks Hansen politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hansen prefers to stall for the moment though.

Wong tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hansen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hansen looks up at the clock and then as Wong takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hansen smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
You can see the frustration on Wong's face as Hansen controls the position.
Hansen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Wong to see if he's OK.

Hansen is working for a submission of some sort.
Hansen wants to free his trapped foot but Wong is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Soren Hansen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hansen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
