Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Edinson Leone (ranked 5693 p4p, 3028 weight class) and Jake Wood (ranked 260 p4p, 171 weight class). Wood has chosen Many Men - 50 Cent as his entrance music. Jake Wood is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edinson Leone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Wood!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leone swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Wood shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wood showed some decent athleticism there.
Leone trying to control but Wood postures up.
Wood is taking a breather. Leone says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leone is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Wood looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Leone trying to hold on to Wood's head to control him but Wood postures up.
Wood controlling the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Leone is trying to maintain the position but Wood is very close to passing his half guard.
Wood tries to pass the half guard into mount. Leone knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Leone is looking to control Wood's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Leone avoid being mounted?

Wood is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Leone defends it well.
Leone looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Leone is looking to improve his position.
Wood not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Leone is looking to control Wood's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Leone avoid being mounted?
Wood drops an elbow to the side of Leone's head.
Wood looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Leone trying to control but Wood postures up.
Leone is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wood is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Leone is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wood scores with a couple of nice shots.

Wood is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Leone has managed to free his arm - good work.
Wood trying to control the pace.

Wood is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Leone is defending against the submission attempts here by Wood.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if Wood is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Wood is working for a kimura but Leone is defending it quite comfortably.

Leone wants to improve his position but Wood is controlling well.
Wood works his foot free and advances to mount.
Wood controlling his opponent.

Wood swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jake Wood!
Jake Wood decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
