Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Miyata San (ranked 1030 p4p, 3405 weight class) and Marek Cervenka (ranked 118 p4p, 326 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marek Cervenka!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Cervenka catches San right on the button with a cross.

San fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cervenka sprawls well initially but San persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
San thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cervenka's head.

Cervenka is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cervenka shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cervenka was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cervenka remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
