Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurki Potku (ranked 639 p4p, 565 weight class) and Kaarlo Susi (ranked 90 p4p, 80 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurki Potku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Lou da Vinci and Steve Montenegro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Susi felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Potku is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Susi has managed to free his arm - good work.
Potku wants to lay and pray for a moment but Susi keeps working.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Susi wants to improve his position but Potku is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Potku is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Susi to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Potku wants the takedown. Susi is fighting it off but Potku persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Susi's guard against the cage.

It seemed like Susi was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Potku throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Susi sees it coming and avoids it easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Potku is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Susi can't fight it off and eventually Potku manages to take the fight to the floor. Susi looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Potku drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Potku jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Potku has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
